Tony Singh MBE continues island adventure with Loganair on Lewis

26 Feb 2026 Loganair, the UK’s leading regional airline, is continuing its showcase of unique island culture with its web series, Singh on a Wing, which will see the famed Scottish chef travel to Stornoway in its second episode.

The Loganair brand ambassador travels to the largest island in the Outer Hebrides, Lewis, where he spends the day with crofters Derek Scanlan and Elsie Mitchell, who settled there after falling in love with the island almost 30 years ago. Tony gets a true taste of crofting life and even tries his hand at sheepherding– only to find his talents are better suited to the kitchen.

After a day of hard work, Tony prepares a meal for Derek and Elsie’s family of slow-roasted mutton and roast lamb stovies, and is joined for dinner by son Campbell, his wife Rachel, and their daughter Rosie. A native Gaelic speaker, Rachel also teaches Tony a few handy phrases over dinner, giving the chef a deeper appreciation for the language spoken more widely across Lewis than anywhere else in Scotland.

Lyn MacDonald, director of marketing, communications and product, said:

Lewis is a special destination, celebrated for its deep-rooted Gaelic culture, the remarkable Callanish Standing Stones and some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Scotland.
From the strong sense of island community, to the energy of Stornoway itself, its distinct spirit comes to life in our second episode of Singh on a Wing. We’re proud to showcase more of the inspiring island communities that Loganair is privileged to serve as the series continues.

Born and raised in Leith, Edinburgh, Tony is a third-generation Scottish Sikh whose career spans acclaimed restaurants, television appearances and entrepreneurial ventures.

Renowned for his fusion of Scottish and Asian flavours, he is widely recognised for his work promoting Scottish culture and supporting local communities – values that closely align with Loganair’s focus on regional connectivity and community engagement.

Tony Singh MBE said:

Coming to Stornoway was something really special for me; I was immediately struck by the vivid colours stretching across the landscape. From lending a hand on the croft to sharing stories around the dinner table, I felt completely welcomed into island life.
There’s a warmth and pride in Lewis that you can’t help but be inspired by, and learning a few Gaelic phrases over a meal we’d prepared together made the experience even more personal. Partnering with Loganair helps to shine a light on incredible communities like this, celebrating the food, culture and people that make our islands so unique.

Episode one of Singh on a Wing opened on Islay, where Tony explored the island’s rich culinary heritage- from seaweed foraging along the shoreline to the world-renowned whisky-making traditions that inspired his signature scallop dish. In the final episode of the series, he heads to Tiree, shining a spotlight on the island’s close-knit community and local produce, as Singh on a Wing continues to celebrate the people and places at the heart of Loganair’s network.

The series forms part of Loganair’s wider partnership with Tony Singh MBE, through which he supports the airline across campaigns, events and collaborations, helping to promote its Scottish roots, regional connections and role in supporting local communities.

Loganair continues to grow its network across the UK, recently adding Jersey routes following the collapse of Blue Islands. In January, it launched its 10th regional base in Southampton and was named the most punctual airline of 2025 by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, underlining the airline’s reputation for reliability across its regional network.
