Loganair, Orkney Island Games’ official airline partner, is limbering up to bring a record-number of flights to the island ahead of the 2025 Games.

The airline has confirmed it has added 32 extra flights to its schedule, bringing an additional 1,500 visitors to the island.

With less than three months to go until the Games officially kicks off, the organisers of Orkney Island Games are expecting visitors from over 23 other islands to join them for the annual event.

Luke Lovegrove, Chief Commercial Officer, Loganair said:

The demand for the Orkney Island Games week is proving very strong and we are really pleased to be playing an integral part in getting spectators – and the all-important athletes – to the island for a week of competing, celebrating and showcasing the world-class scenery and people that make Orkney so unique.
We have added 32 flights to the standard flight schedule to and from Orkney ensuring there are plenty of seats available for people interested in getting to the island to be part of the action.

Orkney will host the 20th International Island Games in its landmark 40th year since it first began, joining other host alumni including Bermuda, Gotland, Gibraltar and Guernsey. The Games, taking place from 12-18 July 2025, will bring together athletes from 24 island communities to compete in 12 sports namely archery, athletics, badminton, cycling, football, golf, gymnastics, lawn bowls, sailing, squash, swimming and triathlon.

Kirsty Talbot, Orkney 2025 Games Director, said:

With just three months to go, excitement is really building across Orkney as we prepare to welcome athletes, teams, and supporters from 23 other islands to our shores.
We’re hugely grateful to Loganair for their support in helping make the Games accessible to so many, with additional flights providing a vital link for those travelling to and from Orkney. Hosting the International Island Games is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our community, and partnerships like this are key to making it a success.
