Spring garden refresh at children’s hospice

Green-fingered staff from Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, have completed a busy day working in the gardens of Robin House, Balloch with Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

Led by Loganair CEO Jonathan Hinkles, who is also a keen gardener, the airline staff volunteered with the Robin House gardening team to spruce up the grounds by weeding and planting fresh bulbs in the Mediterranean Garden.

As official airline partner for CHAS, Loganair has been working with the organisation since 2021 to provide connectivity for families across Scotland, ensuring those in remote communities have access to the care and support required.

Earlier this year, children and their families who are cared for by CHAS at Rachel House in Kinross had a unique opportunity to tour Scotland’s islands by air. The flight departed from Aberdeen Airport, where the children were surprised by Loganair’s Easter Bunny who led an egg hunt and presented gifts and chocolates to all attendees.

Additionally, Loganair has been fundraising for CHAS and has accumulated over £2,000 for the charity through various raffles and collections at industry events in recent weeks.

Lara MacDonald, Senior Corporate Partnerships Executive said:

“This is the second time Loganair staff have visited Robin House in the springtime to help volunteer in our beautiful gardens. The team helped tend to our much-loved Mediterranean garden, ensuring it remains a wonderfully tranquil space for our families when they’re visiting the hospice. We’re so grateful to the team for their incredible ongoing support and commitment to CHAS and the work that we do."

Jonathan Hinkles, chief executive at Loganair, said:

“Robin House is a very special place. It’s a home away from home for families of children with life-shortening conditions, so to volunteer our time to support the grounds team was our privilege. This is the second time we’ve spent a day with Maggie and her team at Robin House, to allow families to enjoy the Mediterranean Garden over the spring and summer months.

Loganair has a social responsibility to give back to our local communities, so we look forward to continuing our work with CHAS and to organise another gardening day very soon.”

CHAS is a palliative care charity which strives to reach and support children and their families across Scotland who are living with life-shortening conditions, offering much-needed respite and continual care. It is the mission of CHAS to ensure that no one faces the death of their child alone, and that no family feels forgotten. With Loganair’s diverse flight routes across the UK, the airline is committed to supporting CHAS with its mission to reach and support more families.
