The most favourable time to attempt the Three Peaks Challenge is between late spring and early autumn, specifically from May to October. This period generally offers milder weather, longer daylight hours, and more stable conditions.
Essential gear includes waterproof clothing, sturdy hiking boots, a backpack, multiple layers of clothing for varied temperatures, navigation tools like a map and compass, a headlamp or flashlight, food and water for the duration of the hikes, and a first aid kit.
The Three Peaks Challenge is demanding and requires a good level of fitness. Participants should be capable of walking up and down steep gradients for prolonged periods, totalling about 24 miles (39 km) of hiking with a cumulative climb of over 3,000 meters (10,000 feet).
