Travel Advice 12th June

The union representing Air Traffic Control workers at six Highlands & Islands Airports Ltd airports has notified HIAL of strike action on Wednesday 12 June . This will affect Benbecula, Dundee, Inverness, Kirkwall, Stornoway and Sumburgh.   Services to Barra, Campbeltown, Islay, Tiree and Wick will be unaffected.

As a result of this notification, the following changes have been made to Loganair’s schedule.   Where possible, we are adding extra flights on 11 and 13 June to help customers unable to travel on 12 June to rearrange their travel itineraries.

Tuesday 11 June

The following flights have been re-timed or re-routed:

There will be extra flights on the evening of Tuesday 11 June to assist those booked to travel on flights the following day which will be cancelled due to HIAL Air Traffic Control industrial action:

Wednesday 12 June

Due to HIAL industrial action, all flights to and from Benbecula; Dundee, Inverness, Kirkwall, Stornoway and Sumburgh will be cancelled.  If you are booked to travel on this date, we are offering the option to change your travel plans (including any associated outward or return journey) to move to any available flight on the same or equivalent route between Monday 10 June and Friday 14 June.   There will be no charge payable (i.e. the usual change fees plus any difference in fare will be waived for all ticket types).

Customers travelling between Sumburgh and Bergen will be offered the opportunity to travel on Tuesday 11 June or Thursday 13 June with a same-day connection via Edinburgh on existing Loganair flights, or to cancel their reservation and obtain a full refund.

If your journey involves a connection with another airline, we unfortunately cannot guarantee that other airlines will offer the same flexibility to change tickets.  We recommend that customers check with the second airline around their onward travel.

If you’re booked on one of the flights now being cancelled, you can transfer your booking free of charge via the “manage my booking” function on our website or by calling our Customer Contact Centre on 0344 800 2855.   Alternatively, if you wish to cancel your flight, you can obtain a full refund per our email notification. We’re unfortunately unable to assist with changing or refunding flights booked with other airlines which may form part of your travel plans. Customers booked via a travel agent should contact their agent for alternative travel options or a refund.

For clarity, all services on the following routes will be cancelled on this date:

Services to and from Barra, Campbeltown, Islay, Tiree and Wick are unaffected by this dispute and we expect will take place as normal.

Thursday 13 June

There are a number of changes to flight times and three flight cancellations as a direct result of aircraft and crews being out of place following the previous day’s industrial action.   Some extra flights are also being added and larger aircraft used on certain services to help customers unable to travel on Wednesday 12 June.   The changes are:
