All eyes will be on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this weekend as the Royal Wedding is upon us! After months of speculation – Who will walk Meghan down the aisle? What dress will she wear? – there’s a bigger question on our mind; Where will the happy couple honeymoon?

There’s an increasing trend in the UK to ‘mini-moon’ where couples get away for a few days after the wedding for some well-earned time together, before saving for a long-haul honeymoon the following year. After months, or possibly years, of planning the best day of your lives, the last thing you want to do is more planning!

So we’ve taken the liberty of rounding up some of the best mini-moon destinations across the Loganair network in the UK, Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and Norway.

Bergen

Bergen is the gateway to the fjords, ideally located between the Hardangerfjord and the Sognefjord, making day trips accessible. Once there, you’ll have the choice of experiencing the water, whether it’s a relaxing cruise, fishing or white water rafting, while land lovers can discover the majestic mountains, with glacier hiking, skiing or cycling.

With a range of museums, trendy bars and restaurants, Bergen is a cultural melting pot, earning the UNESCO title City of Gastronomy in 2016.

Fly to Bergen from Glasgow (27th May – 09th September), Inverness, Kirkwall (23rd June – 18th August), Manchester and Sumburgh. (26th May – 18th August)

Carlisle Lake District

The Lake District is the UK’s largest national park. If its natural beauty isn’t enough for you, there’s a wide range of activities and attractions. With 12 of the largest lakes in England,  there’s plenty of opportunity to go rowing, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, fishing or simply splash about on the shore.

Fly to Carlisle Lake District from Belfast City, Dublin and London Southend from 4th June.

Donegal

Often referred to as Ireland’s hidden gem, Donegal’s breath-taking scenery, sandy beaches and friendly welcome from the locals will have you wishing you’d visited before now! Listed in National Geographic’s cool list in 2017, the Wild Atlantic Way is one to tick off the bucket list. If you’re looking for adventure, there’s an abundance of walking and cycling routes and adventure centres for surfing, diving, climbing and more.
