Fly to Tromsø

Tromsø is one of the most popular places to visit to try to spot the Northern lights due to it being located in the middle of the auroral oval! However, this Norweigan town is much more than just a lookout spot!

Tromsø is a large University town and therefore does not lack in nightlife! It is said to have more pubs per capita than any other Norweigan town! with a great selection of restaurants, bars and pubs there’s plenty to keep you entertained in the evenings.

The Northern Lights

Tromsø is situated in the middle of the auroral oval – the area with the highest probability of seeing the northern lights. Chace the lights yourself or join one of the many different types of guided tours. With tours on foot or by boat, there are a lot of opportunities to spot the aurora borealis!

Tromsø is a large University town and therefore doesn’t lack in nightlife! One of the most distinctive features of Tromsø is the city’s compactness. Most of the bars and nightclubs are located along the main street, Storgata, making it easy to check out several places in one evening. We recommend:

Ølhallen is the oldest pub in town, and once the hang-out for fisherman and sailors, this is now the brewpub for the excellent Mack Brewery. There are 67 Norwegian ales on tap to try therefore you are bound to find at least one that you like!

Verdensteatret is Norway’s oldest film house and doubles up as a bar and a cafe! On weekends the film house has Dj’s and has a club-like atmosphere.

Outdoor Adventure

Like many other Norweigan towns, Tromsø is a great place for outdoor activities. Why not go on a whale watching adventure with the family? Take a boat trip down the fjords and look out for humpback whales, fin whales and orcas! For something more fast-paced how about dog sledding in the winter down the mountains?

With the Tromsø film festival, the Northern Light festival and many over events happening throughout the year Tromsø is a lively and exciting place to visit year round.
