Discover contrasts galore...
In the city that gave the world Robert Louis Stevenson's Jekyll & Hyde, discover contrasts galore. The medieval Old Town with its dark closes and stairways versus the elegant New Town of grey-stone Georgian terraces and leafy gardens; the tradition of the annual Military Tattoo and the contemporary creativity of the Edinburgh Festival (and its edgier sibling, the Fringe); and set the quirky vibe of charming Dean Village and Stockbridge against the manicured charm of Princes Street Gardens. That’s before we touch on museums and galleries of national importance, and green spaces such as the Royal Botanical Gardens and lofty Arthur’s Seat.
Take a breather in one of the many restaurants, bars and cafes (as JK Rowling did while scribbling about young Harry Potter). Let Edinburgh work its magic on you.

Edinburgh Itself
The Castle, the Royal Mile, the Old Town, The New Town, Dean Village, Princes Street Gardens. Do it all on foot and enjoy the Athens of the North.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe
What else but The Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The World’s largest arts festival is open access, meaning there is no selection committee, and anyone may participate with any type of performance. The official Fringe Programme categorises shows into sections for theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events. Comedy is the largest section, making up over one-third of the programme.
