Changes to Credit Card Charges on Loganair Franchise Routes

Flybe franchise partner amends fee with effect from 23rd November

Flybe and its franchise partner Loganair today announced plans to amend credit card charges for passengers travelling on the Loganair route network from the end of the month. While the Flybe credit card charge will remain at its current levels, \from Sunday 23rd November Loganair have decided to fund a reduction in the level of credit* and debit card charges. This means that Loganair passengers will be charged a flat fee of £4.00 per passenger per booking made on a Loganair-operated service, and that there will be no charge made for the use of debit cards.

The new credit card charge will cover all Loganair point to point services and is an amendment only to Loganair-operated services. By way of example, what this means for Shetland passengers is that where they had previously been subject to a credit card charge of £7.00 per passenger to travel from Sumburgh to Edinburgh return, this would now drop to a single payment of £4.00 per passenger.

In a separate amendment, Flybe announced its long planned move, to cap the credit card booking fees charged to those customers using Flybe's highly successful Connections service, to one outbound charge - irrespective of the number of onward connections made - and one inbound charge irrespective of the number of inbound connections made.

Commenting on the change Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer of Flybe said:

"Flybe are delighted with the number of passengers choosing to make connections on the Flybe network using 'Flybe Connections'. The response has been beyond our highest expectations. These changes will incentivise passengers even further to use this great facility as it provides a 50% saving on current charges."

Commenting on the change, Loganair's Chief Executive, David Harrison said:

"Loganair have been serving the Highlands and Islands for more than three decades and our success has not only been because of a first class product but also because we listen to our passengers. We are very conscious that we operate lifeline services and that's why Loganair is choosing to fund the price difference between the Flybe charge and the Loganair charge."

Mr. Harrison continued:

"Our adoption of a Flybe franchise brings enormous benefits of connectivity and marketing, bringing many more inbound business and leisure passengers than our previous arrangements brought. These changes will hopefully allow everyone, both passengers and media, to concentrate on these benefits".
